Week 37 Year 1 - Monday, July the 9th 2012

Happy vacation to all of you

It’s been nearly a year. I never thought I’d get this far. 38 weeks covered during which I have experimented different styles and at times suffered some truly amazing field invasions. That’s how SUB came to light. SUB has always been the eccentric part. It loves imagining stories. I, love telling stories, be it through writing or images and, fortunately, I always exert a filtering action so to make sure we do not go over the limits, you never know with SUB. So to say, keep the ball from going out of bounds but with absolutely no restrain as to the extent fantasy may reach. Most stories told depend very much on the kind of activity or experience we engage in at any given moment. Luce, the character who took the lead in the past two weeks, is still a little undefined, I am not quite sure what to make of this event. I don't know whether she's the product of an hallucination or, a projection. It has been so very hot over here. In any case, since I kind of liked it, I may decide to develop the character further and have it live through a series of episodes.

I still remember what prompted me to give life to this project almost a year ago, only for some reason it has developed into something very different from the original idea. It has taken a much more “creative” outlook than initially I intended. It’s been fun but hard work too. And I feel I need to take some time out now. I need to rethink my project, give it a new perspective, and a new “look”, but storytelling will remain my core activity.

In the meantime, I will not disappear. I will repost past editions during the whole of summer. This will give me time to think, gather strength, a little solar energy, new ideas and also material for the season to come. Of course, due to the price of petrol over here, I’ll have to get around on foot and bicycle, but this is not a problem of yours, I imagine. No need to worry. “My butt will thank me by the end of summer?” - “Shut up SUB!”

Kick the habit What an unbelievable story. An orangutan has been smoking for 10 years and only now is action taken to help it kick the habit. The story would have us believe it did everything on its own. Quite frankly, I find that hard to believe.
