"Political doubt"
It’s the first time in my entire life that only two weeks away from election day, I still haven’t made my mind up. Seriously. Don’t know about you but for me it is somehow unusual and awkward. Our political scene is crammed with the usual irremovable sophists. And what is worse is that they seem to contaminate accordingly anyone overlooking the political scene, convinced as they are, what of exactly I wonder - of representing an eligible alternative or of the absolute impossibility that we have to change things?
For the first time, I will not say in the whole history of Italy, but almost, people will have to think differently, and go beyond their party membership or personal sympathies. We have the responsibility to figure out who, among the available candidates, represents the "lesser evil" alternative. And those candidates are well aware of it, as they no longer bother to even present a detailed long-term program, bearing witness to their will to lead the country out of this impasse with a sense of responsibility and awareness, and to go on guiding it towards a sustainable future for everyone. I am convinced no scientific method could ever predict the outcome of the upcoming elections. The candidates themselves haven’t got a clue. However they do have one certainty, which goes to their advantage. We will have to express a vote, is that correct? This is perhaps why (first time it occurs as far as I can remember just a few weeks away from election day), most candidates have decided to solicit our emotions by looking to be portrayed alongside their dogs, also known as man's best friend. Evocative n'est ce pas? And those who were not fortunate enough to have a dog? No problem! Adopt one in extremis as Mario Monti did for the occasion. I won’t say another word, for I do not wish to offend that adorable little creature. - "I'd gladly give each one of them a beautiful skunk, what a mascot it would make!" – Keep quiet SUB! – Anarchy truly prevails in this country, not so much within the population, but rather amongst politicians. Absolute chaos. Whoever makes sense of it must be more confused than ever.
Shall we talk about the Pope? I wonder why Pope Ratzinger chose to stay in Rome? His sudden resignation coming at a most inappropriate time is already a disturbing piece of news, and surely arouses suspicion. Surely so, because when it comes to pulling the wool over the eyes Italians are real masters. I wonder as do many others, whether the Pope’s resignation are truly spontaneous. I should want to enquire as to whether they are irrevocable. I suppose they are. Buts why stay in Rome? I understand the Vatican is an inviolable State and until he stays within the perimeter, moreover at a convent, who could ever get to him? I am indeed aware of having a rampant imagination as well as nurturing a passion for crime fiction, but I refuse to believe that he may somehow fear Angela Merkel or that his choice to stay in Rome may have been driven by plain climatic preferences. And then there's the Finmeccanica scandal that broke out just a few hours away. I say, what a magnificent plot could come out of all this.
