" A change of perspective"

Going out of town every now and then is a very healthy practice. It beats any other technique we rely on to reach our inner state of emptiness and silence and feel our energy flow. Our Zen entity. A chance to get closer to Mother Nature and allow us to detox from the city lights, the cacophony and the energy drainers. Paradoxically, when we reach this apparent state of emptiness, we start hearing the sound of Nature.

Nature has a very gentle but powerful way of expressing itself, of spreading its energy. I perceive it as a fresh current, a course of water, flowing to the beat of its own music and very finely tuned with its surroundings, wind, trees, birds. Everything comes to life in an harmonious chaotic embrace, every day, and plays its tunes as if it were in an orchestra. It sounds like a playful exchange of low pitch vibrations dancing together. Whatever the condition, be it a rainy, windy, sunny day and the environment, seaside, mountain, or countryside, nature has its own rhythm, and I can feel it pulsing, running along my spine and reaching the tip of my fingers. There is no way that anyone or anything, except nature itself, may alter its state and capacity to spread. We may run through it, dance with it, dive in it and whatever else we wish to do, but there is no way anyone can damage its essence. We can attempt to its integrity, putting down trees, polluting our seas and so on but, even if we were to evacuate a place because of the devastation brought to it and considered a risk for our well being or survival, there would still be energy flowing there that would slowly regenerate life. That is precisely the core, the source of energy on which we cannot impose, because it will only let us go so far after which point we would endanger ourselves, a source from which everything seems to spring and flourish. I call it Nature. When we get in touch with nature, we start feeling a beat, a pulse coming from within, which seems perfectly in tune with our immediate surroundings. As we blend in and let go, a powerful source of energy starts flowing through us. If you cannot feel it too, you may be seriously intoxicated. Go to chapter 2.

Nature is part of us and we tune in beautifully whenever it summons us to join its universal flow of energy. The only time we do not manage to do so is when there is a storm. Then we run for cover. A storm is unsettling, it drives our inner compass absolutely wild. Our only aim will be that of reaching our destination without paying attention to anything else. Our whole being focuses on running for cover. And when we reach a safe place, a very thin stream of tension will stay with us until it’s over. We stay alert. That same feeling that keeps us on the line, up and running even when there is absolutely no need to, the typical metropolitan energy flow. It is really curious. Most of us engage into relaxation and meditation courses and exercises, in order to tune in with the one and only energy flow, so presumably we are all aware of it. So why is it that we run around as if our compasses went wild? Where is the storm? Why can we not focus on what we so hardly work for? I go for a jog , it’s my way of tuning in with the world and I pay attention to the kind of energy I feel within. It is always the same one but rhythm and intensity may change. For example, if we all were a musical instrument, today I’m definitely a bongo . Who knows, I might feel like a piano tomorrow. In any case, we all go through a lot to try and keep our vitality flowing and avoid the dispersion of precious energy. This is probably the most difficult part, avoiding dispersion.

Mostly because the energy drainer, if it’s only one we’re lucky, will inevitably show up for its daily contribution. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t mean those people who have and share their own vitality, who love it and nurture it just as we do, giving way to a pleasant and enriching exchange Be it on a playful level and even a confrontation or anything else but definitely an interaction. I mean those people who for some reason do not work on their melody and will insist on playing with your bongo. Those are the ones I call energy drainers. Beware, they are killers and they’re all over the place. They are an obstruction in your flow of energy and if they stay too long they will drain you. Don’t let them play your bongo.
