Kiss of the Vampire

Lately SUB has been behaving strangely, as if it there was a kind of interference between us. For a while I thought SUB had introduced a new element for me to make sense of, as it often does. It throws the ball and watches amused as I try to figure it out. I have spent days on this one and I have come to the conclusion that SUB is not feeling well. It is not for what SUB does but because of a recurrent sound in between the instances SUB transmits. It reminds me of the noise heard when browsing the air for radio frequencies, better known as “white noise”. I am worried. I don’t know, over exposure, a case of Information overflow? - radio, tv, the net, people, books, newspapers, situations - have we tilted somewhere? I think I’ve caused SUB to short circuit. Perhaps we should take a break, unplug everything for a week or so.

I’m sitting in this small cabin and it’s funny because I can see planet earth from afar. It looks like such a peaceful place from this perspective, I bet extraterrestrials often mistake it for an oasis, the perfect holyday destination, Wait a minute, am I dreaming? Eventually I hadn’t realized that the lights had gone off and that I was surrounded by an impressive silence. I don’t recall unplugging anything, I just thought about it, I’m quite sure. My ears are blocked and a strange metallic voice keeps saying – “mother Russia to baby Phobos ---- shhhhhpfpfpfpfcrrr (white noise) - do you read me baby Phobos?” It hit me there and then. I was sitting in the long lost Russian Rocket Phobos-Grunt. Those white noises were indeed coming from a radio communication. I can’t believe this, how on earth did I get here? SUB have you gone mad? this could land us into serious trouble. Get me out of here niow, please! – “du dudu dudu dudududu du dudu dudu dudududuuu duuuuuu”. We’re heading towards a small constellation named Lepus. All around us planets and stars follow their orbit in a perfectly synchronized dance, attracting each other but never too much, as in a magical realm where everything dangerously skirts around without ever crashing. What about those two meteorites? It looks like they might just… - impressive explosion! Hundreds of pieces flying all over the place! Can somebody please fly this thing?! – “Grab the commands” - says a voice - “excuse me? who is this?” – “this is Phobos, grab the commands dammit - these rocks are going to ruin my body work” – “What?!? SUB, you’re not getting away with this one!” – I grab the cloche and start swerving left, right, up, down. I am drenched in sweat. I still don’t know how I did it, but I managed to avoid disaster! I should get insured, question is, against what exactly?... to be defined.

We slowly approach Lepus, a constellation made of only two stars, a red one very big and a smaller one, blue. I call them Ruby and Safire. I think I know what I’m doing here. It’s about an article I came across on the web. A report filed by an observer from planet earth, saying that Safire was sucking the life out of Ruby, like a vampire would, describing the process as particular because, I quote “the ‘bite of the vampire star is very gentle but highly effective." I don’t know whether this guy has been having problems with his girlfriend lately, but I think he’s missing the point altogether. As I find myself here I have taken to observe them for a while. There is absolutely nothing to worry about. On the contrary, for what I can see these two are playing like kids, in an innocent and instinctive way. Safire is very small and hot whereas Ruby is big and cold and red. That is a color that speaks for itself. No one goes through a red light just like that, unless they’re drunk. Anyone in their right mind would approach gently, make sure the area is clear and then go through the red light. Safire is helplessly attracted to Ruby, doesn’t know why it cannot get out of its orbit, but, at the same time it is also a little scared, so it is gently and carefully biting off Ruby’s freezing cold armor. I have also noted that Safire is slowly moving in circles around Ruby which I believe is part of its softening strategy. “No SUB we cannot stay till the end”. It really looks as if Safire is in control of the situation. In fact I can denote a hidden grin behind Ruby’s cold appearance, a sweet grin. That is probably because we all, including Safire, believe it is Safire who leads the game. Safire, the seducing vampire. The truth of the matter is that it is Ruby who locked Safire into its huge magnetic field. Meanwhile they seem happily taken by each other’s orbit. I hope I have contributed to settling the matter. It isn’t a vampire’s bite, it’s a love bite.

“Let’s go home now SUB – What? parking…. lion? What are you talking about? next time SUB. I just want go home and feed the cat“.

Santa's reindeer found among the Cinderellas another happy event to tell. A beautiful reindeer cub born without horns, thanks to its breeder, ended up leading Santa's reindeer parade. To be quite honest, it very much looks like a sweet little donkey. If we go on like this we'll be able to put together a very special live nativity scene. I think I have read about a child with a special story, somewhere. read article

the color of purity what could be more inspiring, at christmas, than a gift of 3 newly born rare white lion cubs, looking like 3 defenseless sacred white lambs? four legged golden angels many are the reasons why animals should be legally protected just like humans. Too often we use them for our own selfish purposes, forgetting the important role that with an appropriate training they're able to cover. For some functions on the other hand, they have an innate skill that cannot be denied. read article

A genius of our modern times No doubt an interesting and courageous declaration. Courageous because regardless of the times we live in, Mr Schmidt, chairman @ Google, answered about Google's alleged tax evasion in Europe by saying that they pay a lot of taxes and they follow legal ways to do so. It is called "capitalism" says Mr. Schmidt. Interesting because by doing so he has admitted to "scheming" legally - read article

Where there's a will, there's a way What amazes me about the chinese is that everything they do, by virtue of the fact they have enormous numerical dimensions, is absolutely bewildering. Just now I stumbled on this headline: "China to flatten 700 mountains for new metropolis in the desert". An amazing "land moving" project. I mean, it would be like saying, "flatten all the Alps". That would spell disaster, wouldn't it? - read article

It could have been "The Great Wine Robbery" of the century. Floods of precious vintaged wine. The finest taste, result of a great passion. The Brunello di Montalcino is a great wine, which may only be produced by means of one single variety of grape and must be aged at least 5 years. A Reserve bottle, aged 6 years may cost from 250€ up. Sadly some 6 vintages going from 2007 to 2011, the equivalent of 84 000 bottles have been completely destroyed. Not drank, not stolen. Destroyed by vandals. - ARTICLE - watch video -
