Metropolis 6 - "Flying towards a destination"

A solar eclipse overshadows the southern hemisphere for a few minutes. Millions of souls are getting ready, they are looking up, eyes turned towards the sun, waiting in stillness for the show to fulfill their expectations. The fauna shivers. I wonder if these creatures know what an eclipse is, if it holds a special meaning for them. All animals are in turmoil, some look puzzled, most look scared, many are running for cover and - "outch! watch where you’re going you fool! "- Run, everyone’s running and so too is the huge gathering of runners who dedicated a marathon to this event and are greeting this day to a running pace. Thousands of hurried footsteps marking the beat, heart rates accelerate, the subtle tension compressed within just before the start is finally freed and expands all those chests. A sprint forward as we leave the asphalt for the desert, and that branch across the path blocking the passage, and so yet another sprint forward uplifts and flies those light bodies over the obstacle. Flying. Yes flying.

Fly towards a target. Missiles are flying on the other side of the globe. "Bombing is carried out with surgical precision," says the anchorman. Black clouds rise and darken the sky while elsewhere the moon slowly slides over the sun. And on goes the anchorman: "Europe’s most famous plazas... images ... what has already been labeled the war of the poor." Oh, I almost forgot the spread. It has made a big comeback this week. It seemed as if it had packed ready to migrate with those swarms of birds flying across our cities, and be gone until next spring, but no. Know when a situation goes beyond all limits, so much it feels ridiculous? That’s where we are right now. It is so unbelievable. Sometimes I wonder if the people who lived through the great wars and revolutions had the same feeling just as they were slowly slipping into a nightmare, helplessly so. In slow motion, our world keeps sliding into a vortex of tension that sometimes comes to a halt, gives us a break, but only to resume with greater vigor. Just as in the springtime. The Arab Spring. That's right. Our beloved European streets turned into arenas where slaves and gladiators.. - “slaves all the same!” - "SUB Shut up!" – collide in a struggle driven by anger and frustration because everyone talks and talks but no one listens, while monitors around the world entertain the grandstands intent on following the show.

Images scroll through. Armed men raging over a single human being. - "couldn’t they just arrest him?" - "SUB!" - But those arms won’t stop and those blackjacks keep on striking a body which is curled up on himself. Crowds of frightened people are now trapped in a flow under siege. Yet technology will save us. One day all this will only be a video game. Protests will live through the net. Hundreds of thousands of walls will be sullied. And a few circuits will be terminated.

sustainable development Apart from the many downfalls and traps that come along with new technologies, in many ways they will certainly brighten our future. The good news is the more we use them, the more energy we generate. The bad news is, we'll have to wait a while still. Have a look at these solar powered prototypes. -
